Southern Kaduna Youth Forum Condemns ‘Disregard’ for Gen. Musa’s Service, Calls for Measured Public Discourse

Kaduna, Nigeria — The Southern Kaduna Youth and Students Forum (SKYSFOM) has issued a sharply worded open communication to prominent legal practitioner and activist, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, Esq., formally challenging the tone and implications of his recent public commentary regarding the appointment of General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.) as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence.

In the official statement, signed by its President, Prince Edward Kazachiang Marcus, SKYSFOM strongly defended Gen. Musa’s distinguished military record, asserting that his service is "not subject to casual dismissal."

The forum's leadership conveyed its message with firm respect, stating that their action was necessitated by Adeyanju’s professional stature and the weight his opinions carry in the public sphere.

Defence of a 'Battle-Tested Veteran'

SKYSFOM’s core argument centered on Gen. Musa’s extensive and decorated tenure in Nigeria's security sector, particularly his role as the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff.

"Gen. C.G. Musa is an officer whose record of service is not subject to casual dismissal," the statement read. "His tenure... was characterised by verifiable commitment, operational discipline, and sacrifices rendered under exceptionally demanding circumstances."

The youth body acknowledged the complexity of the security environment, but emphasized that Musa’s contributions were evident and that "Nigerians observed the impact of his leadership while simultaneously noting the vacuum created by his departure."

Appeal for Fairness and Decorum

The communication directly addressed the legal practitioner, suggesting his recent remarks conveyed "a degree of disregard for a battle-tested veteran whose career epitomises duty and sacrifice."

SKYSFOM appealed for greater circumspection in public commentary concerning national figures, stating that, as a professional of repute, Adeyanju’s words are "expected to reflect proportional fairness, respect for service, and due recognition of national contributions."

While affirming the right to express dissenting views, the forum stressed that commentary on individuals who have shouldered critical national responsibilities "ought to be grounded in measured judgment and factual balance."

In a pointed close, the forum formalized its loyalty to the newly appointed Minister, describing Gen. Musa as "our father and role model," and emphasized that "An insult to him is an insult to all Southern Kaduna people and to every military officer who has fought and died for this country."
